  Hey guys!! We've learned about so many different countries this year and their music, but I've included some that we haven't discussed. Hope you enjoy!! :) Brazil:      My first country I wanted to highlight is Brazil. I chose this country because one of my teammates is from Brazil and as I was reading her first blog post and listening to the music, I was really intrigued and wanted to learn more about her country and her country's music. I really enjoyed listening to the Samba music and would love to experience the community and dancing in Brazil. The Samba Bossa Nova music I've included is a mix of Brazilian Samba music, which is fast-paced and rhythmic, while Bossa Nova is slower, more melodic, and jazz-influenced, but derived from Samba. Latvia:        My second piece is from Latvia in Northeastern Europe, near Russia. Hey guys! For my Music and Family section, I interviewed my grandparents.   Question: "What kind of music was popular when you were growing up?" Grandma: Elvis Presley was popular when I was growing up, he was a big thing. In the 60's the Beach Boys. Me: What about you, Grandpa? Grandpa: Well, I was born in 1946, so when I was old enough to listen to music, it was the Rock and Roll Revolution, so they had Elvis Presley was the biggest, but they had Jerry Lee Lewis, Fatz Domino, and all the 50's doo wop was popular, the stuff you hear on PBS today. Then, as a teenager, we had groups like the 4 Seasons that were at the top of the charts then, in the 60's The British Invasion. Grandma: The Beatles! Grandpa: The Beatles, The Dave Clark 5, The Rolling Stones, The Who, all these groups from England became big. Grandma: Jefferson Airplane.
